Dear Saints, Friends and Partners,
We send warm Christian greetings to you from People For Jesus Ministry – PFJM (formerly known as People For Jesus International Ministries).
Many activities have been going on for regular Church daily, weekly and monthly programmes and projects. Some of the evangelistic activities are enlisted in the updates while many others are not. The Church works in communities with many poor orphans, widows, pupils, students, and people at risk who need our support but we thank God that we are able to help only a few of them with your partnership.
JULY 2013
The month of July was busy with prayers and other Missions Emphasis Months preparations. Pastor Tom and other Church leaders were visiting different entities and confirming hotel bookings, vehicle hire bookings and others for all who were coming to visit the Church.
21ST JULY– 31ST JULY 2013: KANDARIA MIXED SECONDARY SCHOOL ADMINISTRATION OFFICE AND CLASSROOM BUILDING PROJECT
On the 21st of July 2013, our partners from the UK arrived in Kenya. On 26th July, they arrived in Kandaria village in Kisumu County(about 320 kilometres to the western part of Kenya) to embark on the main project of building school office plus a classroom. The team of teachers and students worked very hard to build the facility and in three weeks the whole building was ready for use. The team was also involved in helping in St.Andrea agricultural project based in Kandaria, helping in orphanages and in individual homes. The team did amazing things in Kisumu County and they also had a chance to visit Impala Animal Sanctuary an Kisumu Museum. Times for shopping and other excursion activities were also slotted in the programmes.
THE UK TEAM ARRIVES AT KANDARIA MIXED SECONDARY SCHOOL
AUGUST 2013
1ST – 11th AUGUST 2013: KANDARIA MIXED SECONDARY SCHOOL ADMINISTRATION OFFICE AND CLASSROOM BUILDING PROJECT
The UK Team left Kisumu on 7th August and spent the night in Narok, the headquarters of People For Jesus Ministry. On 8th August 2013, the team went for a remarkably wonderful game drive trip to the world renown Maasai Mara Game Reserve. The team spent time with People For Jesus Ministry members and leaders on 9th August before leaving for Nairobi that same evening. On 10th August, the team visited People For Jesus Ministry programmes in Kajiado North district at Ongata Rongai children centre. On 11th August, the team spent the better part of the day shopping and getting soveneurs. WE TRULY APPRECIATE THE GREAT WORK THAT WAS DONE BY OUR UK PARTNERS. WE WELCOME THEM BACK TO KENYA AS MANY TIMES AS POSSIBLE.
8TH – 12TH AUGUST 2013: The People For Jesus Ministry (PFJM), Narok town Church, sent a team of Children teachers to the Kisumu branch Church to conduct a Sunday School children teachers training seminar. About 20 children teachers were trained and lots of children materials were given to the trained teachers. The teachers came from different churches and ministries but PFJM sponsored the programme and gave Church facilitators.
15TH AUGUST 2013: PFJM Church in Narok, officially opened the home of a widow in the church who was homeless but was glad to have a home with the assistance of the Church. The gospel was preached and a powerful fellowship was held in the home of the Maasai woman whose husband was brutally murdered some years back and was rendered homeless. She is now happy that she can live in peace in her husband’s land reclaimed from the killers of the late husband. Her name is Nalango Turere.
17TH AUGUST 2013: The PFJM Church in Narok town sent Sunday School Children plus their teachers to a tour to the Nairobi wildlife park. They surely enjoyed their unforgettably wonderful trip.
17TH AUGUST 2013: Pastor Tom attended a blessed wedding in Kisumu County and had a great time helping out in many ways and making new friends for the growth and development of the Church community. The couple were great friends Pastor Tom brought up in the faith. They were Jerry and Fridah.
20TH –27TH AUGUST 2013: Pastor Tom was in Kandaria village and Kisumu County for a follow-up programme on the work that was done by the short-term UK 2013 Kenya team . It was work well done even though the school building did not have sufficient funds for painting.
22ND –24TH AUGUST 2013: The Church had a powerful preaching in crusades, house to house evangelism, teachings and much more in the mission work that was conducted in the Olooltoto church area. This is a typical Maasai village and needs sacrificial commitment in discipleship. The church has committed a 6-months strategic plan to spiritually revive the church and proclaim the gospel in the area, which is an animist area.
SEPTEMBER 2013
9TH – 14TH SEPTEMBER 2013: The PFJM Narok town Church built a new temporary structure in a different piece of land not far from where the church used to have a tent sanctuary. The new sanctuary was officially opened by pastor Tom on the 15th of September 2013 and the first missionary team was commissioned to travel to Tanzania for a mission trip on that same day. We are still working on the floor and other details. We intend to stay there for about 3 years during which time, we should have bought our own land and began building a sanctuary on our own land. THANKS TO ALL WHO HAVE SUPPORTED THIS SANCTUARY BUILDING PROJECT.
16TH – 24TH SEPTEMBER 2013: TANZANIA MISSION TRIP: Mrs. Eunice (Pastor Tom’s wife and Pastor John Ole Tarkash travelled to Morogoro Tanzania for a mission trip. It takes 3 days on the road, but they took two days each way. They were working with our PFJM Tanzania church. They conducted crusades, conducted water baptism, training seminars, evangelism, revival meetings and much more. It was an expensive but worthy course which is at the core of the mission emphasis of the Church. God healed many people. Many people also gave their lives to Christ.
TERRORIST ATTACK IN NAIROBI KENYA: On Saturday 21st September 2013 at about 11:00a.m, gunmen and gun women of unknown number gained entry into the up-scale Wellsgate shopping male and began to shoot at people randomly. They asked people questions about their Islamic or Christian Status. If you said you are a Christian they would shoot you in a close range. There were over 1000 people in the mall at the beginning of the attack, which turned out to be a terrorist attack as claimed by Alzabaab group, a terrorist group of the Al-Qaeda group which was based in Somalia but removed by the Kenya Armed forces. Over 67 people were killed and over 200 people seriously injured. Keep Kenya in prayers.
PEOPLE FOR JESUS MINISTRY MISSION TEAM COUNCIL
People For Jesus Ministry has a mission team or Mission Council that plans and implements local, regional and international missions programmes. That includes crusades, church planting, prayers and intercessory prayers, community evangelistic programmes and projects. The team also mobilizes, recruits, sends and support long-term and short-term missionaries to different parts of the world. The Mission Team also hosts volunteer missionaries from every part of the world. The Mission Council meets every month to pray, plan and implement Church mission programmes.
WIDOWS AND THE POOR PEOPLE’S PROJECTS NEED YOUR SUPPORT
PFJM has established a self-help project called ”Cluster Dynamics” which are designed to pull together groups of 5, 10 or 15 people from within a community group who are mutually in great need. The groups are tasked with developing a micro-project which will generate income for the group in order that they can support themselves and their families.
The groups mainly made up of destitute women, are poor for a number of reasons but mainly due to the tragedy of HIV/AIDS which affects each family in one way or another. Some suffer from the disease themselves, others as a result of losing their husband by HIV/AIDS. The result is that the remaining partner (usually wife and mother) is left to support a number of children. PFJM can help these groups get established by providing one time initial set up grant of £450, 900 and 1350 respectively, allowing them to get going with their project and bring in the much needed income that will grow the project and support the group and their dependants. PFJM will closely monitor the projects to ensure that they are profitable to the groups. You can invest in this worthy course that can profitably change lives of the poor widows and others for a life time. We Currently have the groups of 5, 10 and 15 ready to move with any support that comes to them. PLEASE HELP THESE POOR PEOPLE TRANSFORM THEIR LIVES BY YOUR ONE TIME SUPPORT.
