Moody Bible Institute welcomes the presence of students from countries outside of the United States. We believe that such individuals enhance the cultural, intellectual and spiritual atmosphere of Moody by adding a diversity of experiences and perspectives.
International students should consult the nearest American consul or embassy regarding study in the United States. Moody admits undergraduate students from other countries only during the fall semester. All applicants coming from a country where English is not the official language must take the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) and have the scores submitted directly to Moody’s Admissions Office.
Tuition Paid Policy makes Moody relatively affordable for International Students
Moody desires to keep the cost of an excellent education as affordable as possible, while not compromising quality. Moody is able to offer this affordable education by the generous donations from friends of the Institute. Many of the donations received by Moody are applied to maintaining the tuition-paid policy by directly paying the tuition expenses on behalf of each student. Effectively, this means that $17,500 is paid annually in tuition costs on behalf of each student by outside donors to Moody.
Therefore, students are only required to pay for their room, board, medical insurance costs, and some additional fees.
What is the application deadline for an international student?
Visit our Application Deadlines page for current deadlines. It is recommended that international students start the application process earlier than students that are U.S. citizens due to the paperwork load involved. Keep in mind that all international students that are attending college for the first time or transfering from a college overseas will begin in the fall semester. International students who are transferring from a college in the U.S. will be considered for admission during the spring semester on a case-by-case basis.
How much is the tuition at Moody?
Full-time Undergraduate students on the Chicago campus do not pay for the school tuition. However, they must find financial support to pay for housing, books, insurance and meals, which is approximately $12,098 (single) and $25,829 (married) per school year. For a full list of fees and semester costs, please see the Undergraduate Cost Chart.
Do you offer special scholarships for international students?
The Institute scholarships are limited and are usually given out to the students who are in great financial need in the final semester of their degree program. It is best for you to inquire about the possibility of finding a scholarship through the financial aid office. Students are encouraged to find support from outside sources, such as their home church or Christian organizations they intend to serve in the future.
Am I allowed to work while studying at Moody?
Once you are accepted to Moody, you are allowed to work on campus up to 20 hours/week (part-time) during the semester and more than 40 hours/week (full-time) during school breaks and holidays. Some of the jobs available on campus are housekeeping, food service, physical plant, library, and administrative work.
