Arkansas

Teen Challenge of Arkansas

  • Teen Challenge of Arkansas is a non-profit organization whose purpose is to biblicallyeducate men 18 and older with life-controlling problems. This is accomplished through educational programs that are Biblically sound and highly structured.
  • We offer a residential program for adult males ages eighteen and older. It takes a minimum of fourteen months to complete the program. The first four months are spent at Teen Challenge of Arkansas, located just outside of Hot Springs. This is called the induction phase. The remaining ten months are spent at Mid-America Teen Challenge in Cape Girardeau, Missouri. This is the training phase. Depending on an individuals determination and abilities, the program could take longer than fourteen months to complete.

Teen Challenge Ranch of N.W. Arkansas

  • In the 1960’s, John and Nelda Nevels started taking troubled and hurting boys into their home in Morrow, Arkansas. This Christ-centered outreach was known as the King’s Ranch. In 1973, this ministry became affiliated with Teen Challenge International, USA and became the first residential Teen Challenge program exclusively for teenage boys.  The King’s Ranch grew and eventually moved to its current location in 1980. Because of the kindness and generosity of the people of Morrow, Arkansas, the ministry was allowed to move to 5 acres of land and buildings that had previously been used by the Morrow Community school district. Later, an additional 30 acres were purchased for expansion. In 1993, the ministry changed its name to Teen Challenge Ranch of Northwest Arkansas.
  • What started out in a home on a hill in the Ozark Mountains has now grown into a powerful, life-changing ministry that has provided assistance to hundreds of boys and their families from across the United States.

Teen Challenge Women’s Ministry

  • Our purpose is to provide women with an effective and comprehensive Christian faith-based solution to life-controlling problems. By applying biblical principles, Teen Challenge Women’s Ministries, endeavors to help people become mentally-sound, emotionally-balanced, socially-adjusted, physically-well, and spiritually-alive.
  • This faith-based residential program assists individuals in recovering from drug and alcohol addiction and the life-controlling problems associated with it. In addition, residents work on overcoming rebellion and the self-destructive behaviors associated with their substance abuse and developing positive life skills. Residents participate in spiritual growth activities, individual counseling, and choir.

Black Community Developers

  • Since 1967, BCD has served the disadvantaged of Little Rock’s 12th Street Corridor. Originally founded as Black Community Developers, an outreach program of Theresa Hoover United Methodist Church, in 2010, the organization changed its name to Better Community Development to reflect the inclusive nature of BCD’s programs.
  • Our mission is to improve the quality of life for low-income, undeserved, disadvantaged and at-risk children, youth and families in Little Rock, Arkansas. We currently accomplish our mission through six basic programs: Hoover Center; Nia Career and Computer Training Center, Health and Wellness, Youth Activity Center, BCD Homebuyer’s Program; and Supportive Housing Programs

Capstone

  • Capstone is a licensed residential treatment program serving troubled young men (14-24) who struggle with chemical dependency, substance abuse, sexual addiction, trauma, family conflict, and personal problems including loss, hurt, anger, abuse, depression, low self-esteem, defiance and a rebellious attitude.
  • Since 2001 the Capstone team has joined families in the battle for their sons to grow into young men with successful lives, purposes, and relationships. The purpose will entail things that are connected to the gifts divinely given to the individual.

Mississippi

Teen Challenge of Mississippi, Inc.

  • The program combines biblical instruction to build Christian character, spiritual counseling to promote emotional wellness, and work assignments to teach acceptance of responsibility and a healthy work ethic.   The program is 12 months depending on the needs and progress of the student.    The Induction Phase provides for an adjustment period in which the student learns to keep a daily schedule and adhere to rules.  The Second Phase promotes implementation of character qualities being taught.  The Advanced Phase prepares the student to return to the community as a contributing citizen.
