- focuses its program support in Africa on youth, and building sustainable communities. We do not create new projects to fund and support in Africa. We partner with existing, locally led organizations whose programming is already delivering sustainable and empowering programs for youth.
- To empower local youth, this project aims to improve livelihoods for youth and young mothers in Tali, south Sudan through high demand trades training like brick-making and carpentry, seed funding to the Tali Youth Association to encourage youth entrepreneurship, the creation of a youth development centre, as well as focused Young Mothers’ initiative to support and empower girls who have grown overly dependent or isolated in their marriages. This program is delivered in partnership with African Medical and Research Foundation (AMREF) Canada.
- partnering with groups and individuals to empower Africans to build healthier communities through sustainable clean blood and clean water solutions, while developing social responsibility in the U.S. through initiatives that provoke personal engagement and ownership.
- The 1000 Wells Project is building 1000 wells and clean water projects in 1000 African communities. Businesses, churches, schools, artists and individuals are collecting funds so they can sponsor the construction of wells in Africa. In the process, they are learning about how HIV/AIDS affects African communities, and what it means to partner humbly with communities to pursue transformation.
Operation Lifeline Sudan (OLS)
- we have been involved in providing urgent care for the southern Sudanese since 1993–primarily in the Upper Nile region. CMA provides the only community medical clinics in this extremely remote area. The bottom line is that if CMA wasn’t operating in this area, thousands of Sudanese would suffer and die. More than 82,000 people received care in the CMA clinics in this neglected area.. Through our training programs we have been able to equip Community Health Workers (CHW’s) Traditional Birth Attendants (TBA’s) and Extended Program of Immunization workers (EPI’s).
- works with communities and households (particularly households headed by single-mother) to increase access to secure and sustainable sources of food and livelihood. Initiatives include increased access to credit, environmental rehabilitation and improving community access to water, health care, education and training. Oxfam also helps to strengthen the capacity of partner organizations to address issues of poverty and inequality and to improve democratic structures and function, including accountability to constituents.
