Greetings to you all in Christ’s name:
This is to thank you all who prayed for the last mission to Got Regea in Nyanza province, Siaya County:
- The Difficulties:
The mission was very difficult:
- The host did not have both the Public Address System (PAS) and the platform for preaching. They had not even received the NEMA certificate. We had to hire PAS from Dudi centre, where the crusade was. We hired the ones used for discos at 600/- per day, that’s after a lot of bargain. We had to preach without the platform (jukua).
- The PAS was not perfect, and we had to make use of only one microphone.
- The distance from where we were hosted (Got Regea – St. Peter’s Church) to the crusade ground (Dudi) is about 5 Km and the host had not planned for transport. The total number of missioners were 19.
- The area to cover during door-to-door evangelism was very large. The missioners had to walk to the three local/daughter churches of St. Peter’s. Sometimes walking for 1 – 2 hours then walk to the crusade in the afternoon.
- Sometimes the host members were not available to guide the team for door-to-door evangelism.
2. Spiritual attacks:
- First, I was attacked by malaria and had to be on medication: from Wednesday until Friday. Even as I write now, this morning I had an attack. I have a painful waist. I have difficulty walking upright.
- On the last day (Sunday), one of our team members almost lost his life. They had been assigned to preach in one of the daughter churches. After the service, they went to pray in home which has been under demonic attacks. On the way back, they decided to take motorbikes to bring them to crusade. This member was carried on one motorbike while the other two were carried on a single motorbike. This team member was carried by a careless cyclist. He cycled in a terrific speed, knocking a cow on the way. The cow died instantly. For a moment the team members thought the cyclist was dead. But after praying for him, he began move. His colleague rushed him to hospital while I was called to drive our team member to hospital. I was preparing to preach the last sermon in the crusade but I had to rush him to Yala Sub-district hospital. Glory be to God that he had no fractures; just an injection for tetanus. We drove back to the crusade and I preached. The cyclist had to be given several stitches and admitted. Coincidentally, the cow which was killed belonged to the daughter church of St. Peter’s called St. Luke’s – Luanda Dudi, where I had preached that morning.
3. SUCCESS STORIES:
To God be the glory for great things He did at the Got Regea Mission as follows:
- Door-to-Door Evangelism (Tuesday to Friday), over 62 people got saved (62 was recorded)
- Film shows: over 80 people got saved. we had a film show for three nights. Being at night, number of people who raised their hands to receive Christ was overwhelming; making it difficult to take down their names.
- Seminars (church leaders, ladies’, Youth): 6 people accepted Christ.
- Sunday Services: 11 people got saved.
- Crusades ( Tuesday – Sunday): 20 People accepted Christ.
- Deliverance Ministries: a Boy who had epilepsy was healed, a lady who was bound by brewing illicit brews was set free, a woman who was under the spell of witchdoctors and demonic attacks was set free, parents whose children left home, ranging from the past 5 years and over were prayed for. We praise God that one of the sons who has been away for 5 years called the mother.
- We distributed the clothings and flour which has been contributed by the members of Kahawa Sukari Baptist Church.
4. Observations:
- The Youth are missing from the church:
- There is a very wide generational gap. Due to several factors, including the HIV/AIDS pandemic, a generation has been lost. The age bracket of 20’s – 50’s are missing. Those in church leadership are between 60 years and 75 years. This means that the church is made up of both the grand children and grand parents.
- People are very receptive to the word of God. In some cases, those who doesn’t to church, the drunkards etc. insisted that the team visits their homes and pray with them. In the process, they got saved.
5. Prayer Points:
Please pray that:
- Those who got saved; a total of over 179; that they may stand. Unfortunately, we did not have a team in the ground / among the host, who can effectively do a follow up. But pray for the pastor and his lay leaders that the Lord may help them.
- That there will be understanding and rapport between the grand children and grand parents so that the church will have a strong youth fellowship.
- A system for visiting of widows, which I set up among the leaders, while conducting a leaders’ seminar will succeed.
- That the Lord may open a chance for a follow up mission; purposely for discipleship, to follow up on those who got saved.
- All those who were involved in this mission will protected from any post-mission attacks from Satan. And that their strength may be renewed.
Otherwise, thank you for your support in prayers and in any other way, which made this mission a success. If it was not for your prayers and God being on our side, the enemy would have caused us terrible harm: “But thanks be to God, who always leads us in triumphal procession in Christ and through us spreads everywhere the fragrance of the knowledge of him. For we are to God the aroma of Christ among those who are being saved and those who are perishing. To the one we are the smell of death; to the other, the fragrance of life. And who is equal to such a task?” (2 Corinthians 2:14-16).
“Praise be to the Lord, to God our Saviour, who daily bears our burdens. Our God is a God who saves; from the Sovereign LORD comes escape from death.” (Psalm 68:19-20).
May God’s blessings and grace be always with you
