Today I went to see this film with my mom while I should’ve been writing an essay. It was an amazing film, very heart-warming, sentimental, and most importantly, true.
It was also fairly Christian which I was amazed could still exist in Hollywood, but a beautiful story about the triumph of love/charity over prejudice, apathy, and capitalism(?). It’s about a family that adopted an unfortunate homeless black boy and made him a member of their family. There’s also some football stuff. Definately a movie you should go see, it will not disappoint.
I think the reason why I connected with this film is because it truly contains ideas and desires that we all long for. Love, acceptance, and motherhood. You take the lowest valued person in the society, a homeless chubby black kid, who shows no immediate promise, and then take the highest valued person in society, a white millionaire family that has excelled in sports as well as education, and you bring them together.
I think I connected with it because I often feel like a valueless person, and long to be accepted by people
