- ACR will be working with World Wide Orphans and several other NGOs in Ethiopia, with a strong emphasis on water installations in orphanages for children orphaned by the AIDS epidemic.

- through a strategic partnership with USAID, the State Department and in-country NGOs such as the Kale Heywet Church and the Relief Society of Tigray, has implemented four programs spread over four geographic areas of Ethiopia, with as many different cooperating partners.
- Water retrieval methods include boreholes as well as shallow well and spring catchments. Sanitation facilities have been constructed at schools, with special emphasis on latrine and hygiene education. In addition, planning is underway for water resource development to provide for livestock and food crops.
- Locally, MWA is working with World Bank’s National Water and Sanitation Program and UNICEF’s WASH initiative to build the rural capacity for planning and systems management.
- works with communities and households (particularly households headed by single-mother) to increase access to secure and sustainable sources of food and livelihood. Initiatives include increased access to credit, environmental rehabilitation and improving community access to water, health care, education and training. Oxfam also helps to strengthen the capacity of partner organizations to address issues of poverty and inequality and to improve democratic structures and function, including accountability to constituents.
